Understanding any significance and/or importance to The Afri Bar, Village Resorts Hospitality Group, LLC, and The Afri Bar, LLC, does not adhere to social movements which may be defined as an organized effort by a body of people, organizations, institutions, or governments organized to achieve a particular goal usually social, political, or religious and in most cases social movements may be carried out to exact a social change, resist social change, or undo social change as The Afri Bar is a hospitality and entertainment venue and not a social, political, or religious movement environment where our conduct of business is guided by our intent, purpose and mission statement.
The Afri Bar has been developed as the first of its kind as a hospitality and entertainment venue aimed at the gay Black and African American male demographic first because homophobia, stigma, and discrimination can be especially hard for Black and African American men who are gay or bisexual who maintain relationships with men and have sex with men, and these negative attitudes can increase their chance of experiencing violence which can include behaviors such as bullying, teasing, harassment, physical assault, and suicide-related behaviors and our primary purpose is to lessen the effects of homophobia, stigma, and discrimination by curating an environment free of fear and oppression against gay Black and African American men first as a matter of both religious and historical discrimination against gay Black and African American men exists while encouraging the protection of their physical, sexual, and mental health.
While the assimilation of the LGBTQ community into mainstream society began many years ago the very concept of the Afri Bar is to preserve the gay culture as the distinction between gay (men), LGBTQ (the gay community), and straight culture has become blurred, and in some ways fractured, it has been described that “the very concept of gay culture may one day disappear altogether” and as a legal right Urban Ground Resort, LLC, The Afri Bar, LLC, and Village Resorts Hospitality Group, LLC, have curated what we describe as a first in establishing a once non-existent “boys town” resort environment for gay Black and African American men as our way of preserving what has been described as a declining gay culture.
The Afri Bar maintains a set of standard operational procedures (sop’s) as general property rules to include our own standards regarding social responsibility. Per our intent, purpose, and mission statement, while the Afri Bar may be a hospitality and entertainment venue aimed at gay Black and African American men first, the Afri Bar is a commercial space privately owned by Urban Ground Resort, LLC, and from time to time at our sole discretion the Afri Bar may become available to Guests 18 years of age and older within the gay demographic as we are a gay established establishment. The Afri Bar does not discriminate, and discrimination will not be tolerated. But all employees, Guests, visitors, and strangers regardless of any Nationality regardless of race, color, religion, origin, origination, gender, and sexual orientation are reminded of their “individual social responsibilities” not to engage in favoritism, discrimination, hostility, and aggression while on Afri Bar property as such behavior goes against our standing policy and mission statement of providing a curated environment free of fear and oppression.
While the Afri Bar is traditionally, by structure, a hospitality and entertainment venue aimed at creating a “boys town” environment for the gay Black and African American male demographic first, the Afri Bar could be considered opposite to our counterpart Hamburger Mary’s which is a pre-existing LGBTQ friendly bar and grill with locations around the country, and while Hamburger Mary’s is open to all, they too also cater to a different clientele opposite that of the Afri Bar, thus our idea for the Afri Bar as an alternative and first choice destination for gay Black and African American men. Considered as the first of its kind in terms of structure, offerings, and availability, the Afri Bar understands that patrons who may be gay but non Black or African American may be interested in frequenting the Afri Bar and in response the Afri Bar has developed what we call “The Afri Unity Days.” The Afri Unity Days is an opportunity open to the broader LGBTQ community to patronize the Afri Bar on pre advertised days at our sole discretion allowing the broader LGBTQ community access to the Afri Bar to include its products, goods, and services without disrupting our normal operating procedures and operations curated for and marketed towards gay Black and African American men within the urban gay male demographic.
While Urban Ground Resort, LLC, and the Afri Bar are pleased to offer the broader LGBTQ community access to the Afri Bar during its Afri Community Days, We are under no legal obligation to offer our services to any category outside our targeted market and demographic audience and the Afri Bar does not discriminate, and discrimination will not be tolerated and we are under no legal or social obligation to tailor or alter the experience’s or operations of the Afri Bar for any other purpose thereof. Our targeted and market audience simply remains that of gay Black and African American men first while warmly welcoming all others during the Afri Unity Days to experience the Afri Bar, Afri Resort. Guests of the Afri Bar we ask adhere to what's described as "Individual Social Responsibility." An (ISR) may be defined as “the responsibility that each individual has to act in a socially responsible manner,” and the Afri Bar, asks all employees and Guests to act in a manner consistent with individual social responsibility while on the grounds of the Afri Bar to ensure our curated environment remains free of fear and oppression as we strive to offer an environment built on quality hospitality and entertainment within our chosen marketed demographic while at our sole discretion we may be welcoming of others.
From time to time at our sole discretion The Afri Bar, LLC, may limit, restrict, deny, or expand its products, goods, and services to any one person, group, or entity based on the type of products, goods, or services in question at the time of limitation, restriction, denial, expansion, amendment, or modification in our sole and absolute discretion.
